A gift of a wheelchair and a computer
from Peceli Here are two photos I took when I visited a Labasa family. The Geelong Donation in Kind had given this girl a wheelchair and a computer a couple of months ago. the girl is rom Bulileka village and also in the photo is the District Officer Northern.
My father in law (previous marriage) had MS. As his condition gradually worsened over many years, having a wheel chair and a computer were, if you'll forgive the expression, a godsend, giving him a freedom he would never have otherwise been able to enjoy.
The girl is overjoyed Peceli told me, that she can now be wheeled to church. I wonder though about her education as I don't think she has been going to school. She needs a relative or helper to get her started on the computer. Over here in Geelong many disabled young adults go to TAFE (Tertiary and Further Education) to the computer labs and do special tasks with really super software according to their ability. Obtaining a wheelchair and a computer is the first step anyway. w
Babasiga (pronounced bambasinga) is the dry land of Macuata in northern Fiji - our place in the sun in Fiji. Peceli is from Fiji from the village is Vatuadova and the beach is Nukutatava. Peceli Ratawa passed away on 27th December 2015 so this is Wendy's blog now. Wendy is an Australian and today live in Geelong, Australia.
