Will the Fiji interim govt delegation watch some lakalaka?

from w
Apparently there's a plan for some of the Interim Govt people to do a trip eastwards to Lau.... but they DO NOT plan to visit Vanua Balavu. I wonder why not. Perhaps it's the beautiful lakalaka dancers that would detract them from Sadie's cleaning ladies task! Of course a real lakalaka requires a hundred or more graceful dancers.

Anyway, here is a pic of two Fiji girls dancing in the Lauan style at an ethnic festival in Australia. Sega ni lega. No worries, mate.

There was just about to be some lakalaka at the Post Fiji staff strike yesterday after the sitting staff started singing the song "Lomaloma" and you know Lomaloma is in Vanua Balavu, Lau, where lakalaka hails from. Just as well matters were sorted out and the staff returned to work at 3pm.

I wanted to post a song from Lomoloma - in Tongan - but it looks like Peceli has taken the song-book with him to Melbourne today. His group are currently practicing songs including a meke ni yaqona for a special celebration later on. They wont' practice today though - it's Siga Tabu!
I really like the sound of Lauan singing such as the polotu when a tenor leads and then the other voice parts come in.

It won't work in actual fact, that is what I suppose.
