Aging tree on beach

Section of a drawing I did on a quiet beach in Fiji. This is how I feel at times, a bit past my prime, worn by the tides, especially when someone asks me to join a protest about the terrible situation in Israel and Lebanon. What can we do? Only a handful of people make the effort to speak up as we feel powerless against such evil and complexities.

The carnage in the middle east is part of the wars over the last hours of ancient sunlight (oil). All the religious, nationalistic, political, and racial labelling is just window dressing.

So what can we plain folk do? All we can do is not support it in any way possible. Which means in the voting booth, in our letters to politicians, in our purchase of goods from countries which commit agression, in our use of the very products being fought over (ie in our energy use habits). And if we are of a mind to, pray. Quite a lot really, even if it seems small in the big picture.

If enough us people each do a little, then we become the ocean, and the greedy, the war mongers, those who lust for power, become the aging tree on the beach. We wear them down.

A rock seems much stronger than water, but droplets of water striking a rock will, over time, wear down the rock.

Thanks for those thoughts. Reminds me of the Apostles down our western coastline of Victoria. This is a series of rockstacks that tourists all go to see. One fell down a few months ago. Wind and water.
