Keeping up Fijian culture in Australia
from w
This week I was given some photos of a cultural event in Geelong where a Fijian group performed a presentation of yaqona to a conference at Narana, the national Aboriginal centre. The group, mainly from Dandenong, dressed in traditional costumes and a chanting group sang the meke ni yaqona. It was done very well. Fijian migrants in Australia often keep up these traditional ceremonies such as this occasion.
