Indian Division meets

from w
It's the time for the various Divisions of the Methodist Church in Fiji to meet prior to the upcoming celebration in August for the whole church.  It's 50 years since the church became independent. I was there a Albert Park for the event in 1964, I contributed to a play by making a clay pot, can't remember what for though. Peceli was there as a newly ordained minister and he up-staged the President by lighting a candle first. It was a great occasion and this year we all remember that time of optimism.
From Fiji Sun and apologies for the way that newspaper wrecks the photo with its bold banner.

People from the Indian divisions of the Methodist Church in Fiji turned up in large numbers at the Dudley church to celebrate the 50th Golden Jubilee of Australasia.
Pastors from around the world which includes South India, United States of America and Australia were also part of last night’s event.
Reverend Dr Mastapha, church president from 1976 to 1980, who was the preacher for the night said his message was carrying the cross with Jesus.
“The depth and love of this love, we cannot explain in words; no language can explain God’s love for us,” he said.
“This is because at the centre of his love is the cross of Jesus Christ.” He said non- Christians would not understand the suffering of Jesus Christ.
“Christ is the embodiment of this great love because everything in the bible and all that Christ did is sum up at Calvary,” Rev Dr Mastapha said.
“When we look at the cross; the sacred symbol of what happened in Calvary because those who believe it’s a power unto salvation and it is an important message for us.”
He reminded the people that going on a journey with Jesus were not an easy task but it is worth the sacrifices.
