Re.Tagimaucia story from Taveuni

Thank you to Pandamonium for posting the story of the tagimaucia flower from Taveuni.
Here's a pic I have from a tourist brochure I kept because I used the tagimaucia story as a prompt for something I was writing. Someone said it does grow in the mountains of Vanua Levu as well as Taveuni, but of course the Taveuni people dispute that. There is a string-band song about the flower and I'll try and find the words. Tepola plays it a lot on Saturdays 3 p.m. Fijian program on SBS radio in Australia.

Looking forward to hearing that music.
Nice picture - the lake and the ocean view too.

It would seem that altitude is the main constrant for getting tagimoucia to grow, so I would not be too surprised to find it in the mountains on Vanua Levu.

May I borrow this picture for use on taveuni.blogspot.com?

Of course, use the picture! I pinched it anyway from an A4 advertisement for Castaway Taveuni - and it looks a few years old. Hey, what's with two comments deleted - who, what, why?

Thanks.

The deletes were mine. I made one comment, then another and when I went for a 3rd I thought I'd "clean up" the mess and put them all in one comment. Sorry. You can permanently delete them and they will disappear.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could delete the rotten things we say at times to people as easily as I just deleted two 'deleted' posts? It would be good if we could edit comments because I've made some bloopers at times as I head towards dementia!

Funny. I've done that on my own blog when I've posted a comment that I soon relized wasn't very nice or could be taken the wrong way. Hopefully before anyone read it.

At least with things we type we do have a chance to read it over before sending it. Things we say verbally are not so easily retracted. :O

Tagimoucia only grows in Taveuni, I've been up to that lake and it is quite big. No one else in Fiji ever heard of it or talk about - it only growns in Taveuni. A very spiritual place. Took pics up and some scary images appeared when developed that were not there when pic was taken. Talking early seventies here.
